Shaykh Mahmoud Alasaal is a native Arabic speaker from Egypt and a graduate of the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. Throughout his studies, he achieved outstanding academic excellence, graduating at the top of his class in every program he completed.
He earned his Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the Ḥafṣ narration after two years of study, graduating with an Excellent grade and first-place honors. He then completed the Advanced Qirāʾāt Program, obtaining the Ten Qirāʾāt Ijāzah after three years, again graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first.
Shaykh Mahmoud has received numerous Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including the narrations of ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016), all under Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. In addition, he holds Ijāzāt in the classical Tajwīd texts Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah, granted by distinguished contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, Shaykh Mahmoud has taught the Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at several respected Qur’anic institutions. His background includes teaching non-Arabic-speaking students online in English, as well as serving at leading Qur’anic institutes in Alexandria.
Since 2019, Shaykh Mahmoud has been the Co-Founder and Director of Shaykhi Academy, where he also serves as a Senior Instructor. He teaches advanced Tajwīd, Ijāzah and Qirāʾāt programs, Qur’an memorization, and courses in Qur’an and Arabic reading.
